This course is perfect for anyone wanting to give soundbaths and/ or gongbaths to groups.

This course is perfect for anyone wanting to deliver relaxation sessions in the form of soundbaths and/or gongbaths only. During the course we will be working with Himalayan singing bowls, crystal bowls and gong. Therapeutic percussion will be used to bring people gently back from a meditative state.

This course is particularly suited to anyone dipping into therapeutic sound for the first time.

A blended learning option with a face to face module is available for this course if you prefer.

  • Exploring our growing body of research as well as neuroscience and the psychology of sound
  • Exploring the ‘sound signature’ of each different instrument and how and why it affects us in certain ways
  • Discovering the application of sound to maximise relaxation Playing techniques for the Himalayan and crystal singing bowls and gong
  • How to write a ‘gongscore’ (a composition for your gongbath)
  • Creating stillness and emotion with your crystal bowls – how each interval affects mind, body and emotions in different ways
  • Transitioning between instruments – enjoying the ‘bridging’ places
  • Musicality, ebb and flow – making your session ‘live’
  • Reflective practice – the 5Rs method of experiential processing – a way to understand ourselves more deeply

Equipment Webinar

  • Videos and presentations introduce the instruments (Himalayan bowls, gong, crystal singing bowls and therapeutic percussion)
  • Choose the best instruments to suit your needs – help will be provided
  • Playing technique tutorials will get you started and practising at home

Foundation Module – 8th February 2023

  • An online course to take before the virtual classroom
  • Quizzes and interactive exercises help you check your understanding and deepen your knowledge

Virtual Classroom 1 – 22nd – 24th March 2023 – 9.30am – 2pm

  • We will unpack the BAST Method of Sound Relaxation Therapy in more depth
  • Take part in experiential exercises and small group sessions
  • Practise playing techniques and experience sound-bath sessions
  • Understand how different instruments affect mind, body and emotions in different ways
  • Discuss the application of the instruments and techniques in more depth
  • Explore current research in sound and music psychology and neuroscience to support how and why sound can be so effective at improving health and wellbeing

Virtual Classroom 2 – 21st April 2023 – 09.30 – 11.00am – Coursework check-in

  • During this session we will check all is well with your coursework and answer any questions you may have
  • We will check playing techniques
  • There will be a Q&A session with your tutors

Virtual Classroom 3 – 19th May 2023

  • We’ll check in with your during virtual classroom 3 for a progress update on your learning

Virtual Classroom 4 – 19th – 21st July 2023 – 9.30am – 2.00pm – Hypothetical case study sessions

  • Exploring a variety of different practical sessions in more depth
  • Hypothetical case studies are explored and discussed in smaller group sessions
  • Prepare for your case study sessions and explore your research project
Practical Assessment Tutorials – July – September 2023
  • Book a 1-2-1 tutorial with your tutor or submit a video if you prefer to go through the soundbath technique in more depth
  • Your tutor will give you feedback, support and guidance

    Virtual Classroom 5 – 13th October 2023 – 9.30am – 11am

    • Check in with your peers and tutors
    • Discuss your case studies and practical techniques in more depth
    • Discuss research and ongoing business/professional development

    Qualify!

    On successful completion of this course you will be awarded a Professional Diploma in Group Soundbath Relaxation Therapy
